The Real ID Act started off as H.R. 418, which passed the House[4] and went stagnant. Representative James Sensenbrenner (R) of Wisconsin, the author of the original Real ID Act, then attached it as a rider on a military spending bill, H.R. 1268, the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act for Defense, the Global War on Terror, and Tsunami Relief, 2005. The House of Representatives passed that spending bill with the Real ID rider 368-58,[5] and the Senate passed the joint House-Senate conference report on that bill 100-0.[6] President Bush signed it into law on May 11, 2005.[7]

On March 2, 2007, it was announced that enforcement of the Act would be postponed for two years.[8] The provisions of the bill will be delayed from going into effect until December 2009. On January 11, 2008, it was announced that the deadline has been extended again, until 2011, in hopes of gaining more support from states.[9] On the same date the Department of Homeland Security released the final rule[10] regarding the implementation of the driver's licenses provisions of the Real ID Act. A pdf of the final rule, as well as DHS Secretary Chertoff's press conference, in pdf transcript, audio and video formats, can be found at BiometricBits.com

This is the REAL plan behind nationalized health care! These weasels couldn't
care less about our health - in fact, the opposite is true. They couldn't get
all the states on board to the national ID, so they are doing it by stealth
through the 'healthcare' card. That is why it will be mandated for every person, including illegals. And because cards can be lost, stolen or thrown
away, they plan to chip everyone.

This was what was behind Hillarycare, SCHIP (who would deny 'the children'?)
and what it is about now. They are trying to fast track in through before too
many people figure it out. All the debating going on over details is just
smokescreen. The money is just a perk. It is really about ABSOLUTE CONTROL.
This is our ticket into slavery, folks. Even if they drop the 'public option'
now, they will just come back and extend it later.

I called my Congressman, whom I like, and the person I spoke with did not
deny it. Her comment was, "Yes. This is very dangerous". I asked why not one
person in Congress is telling us the truth. Of course, we know the answer.

I stumbled across this information while doing general research, written by
Leonard Horowitz. I then searched further, and found much more confirmation.
It is there, if anyone looks.

This needs to go viral! It may even wake up a few Obamatons!

I do believe "they" are already chipping passports and, believe it or not, children, Newborns. A friend of mine works in a hospital in NY and they are already chipping newborns with tags. Oh, you know, they don't want to lose their newborns or get them confused with the other newborns... Uh, yeah...
